The Division of Information Technology and the Office of Cybersecurity released guidance yesterday on the security risks of using Zoom for web conferencing. We encourage you to review their statement here: https://kb.wisc.edu/100196.
While Zoom is a tool that is not supported by the School of Veterinary Medicine or the Division of Information Technology, several tips are provided that can help you stay safe when web conferencing with Zoom, whether you use it yourself, or you collaborate with others who use the tool.
Zoom is NOT to be used for instruction; however, DoIT, the Office of Cybersecurity, and SVM Information Technology encourage you to use one of the several campus-provided tools for your web conferencing and instructional needs. A list and comparison of these tools can be found here: https://kb.wisc.edu/45390. Some of the more frequently used instructional tools are:
- Blackboard Collaborate Ultra (https://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=65251)
- Google Hangouts/Google Meet (https://kb.wisc.edu/98496)
- Microsoft Teams (https://kb.wisc.edu/73588)
- Webex Meetings (https://kb.wisc.edu/webex/89041)
